Guild Expectations

Attendance:

We raid 4 nights a week. This is a low number for a guild who is trying to do what we are doing. Raids begin at 8pm Sunday - Wednesday. Due to the fact that we only raid four nights a week, we need to be making the most of these days. That is to say that you need to be on, in the raid, at the zone, with consumables, ready to raid at raid time. That’s not 8:05, 8:10, or 8:30. That’s 8:00 pm EST.

Now, we understand that shit happens. We’re adults with families and jobs and obligations. This is why we have gone to the trouble of creating an absence forum. If you will be absent or late, you need to post. If you are habitually (read: more than once) not showing up and not posting without really good reason, you’ll be recruited over. That’s that.

When you don’t show up, and we are waiting on and expecting you, you ruin the fun and hard work of everyone else. And that’s just kind of mean. No meanies allowed.

Preparedness:

Consumables - You don’t have to have flasks on for every fight. That is unreasonable. We do ask that you have them for the big fights. We ask that you are using flasks on progression nights because it is more cost effective, and less trouble than “potting up” with elixirs all of the time. If you cannot get flasks or elixirs, let someone know. We will do what we can for you. You also need to have bandages, buff food, and reagents for your class. This is Raiding 101 stuff, guys.

Homework – Learn about the boss fights before you come. No one expects anyone to be a Warcraft scholar here, but at least watch some videos on You Tube and read up on WoW Wiki or something. Nothing teaches like experience, but our experiences will be so much better if our members are showing up with some idea as to what to do.

This extends into gearing and play style.

Do some homework on your classes and constantly be trying to better your abilities. Know exactly what gear and stats work best for your class and spec and know what could be better placed with another class/spec. There’s always something you can be working on. Knowledge is power.

Speaking of Gearing:

Make a gear plan. Know what you want out of the instances we are clearing and make note of it in case the item drops. Be ready to post what you are wearing, and be willing also to tell us “I really need to up my stamina/+hit/+crit [insert w/e you want here]. We are not mind readers. It is extremely important that you are communicating your thoughts and needs with us.

Into Loot Assignments:

Don’t be jerks about this. Keep showing up. The loot will drop again. Loot council isn’t infallible – but no system is. We try our best to take many, many things into account. We are thinking about who will possibly ask for an item and reasons they may deserve it and/or be able to hold off and let it go to some other deserving member before the items even drop. If you have an issue with something, you may speak calmly, and politely to one of us about it. If you want to understand our reasoning, that is fine as well. Just don’t make it a habit every time you don’t get something.

And finally, Attitude:

Be nice to each other. This shouldn’t even have to be said, and I don’t think that it’s an issue at this point. We don’t want to see entitlement and rudeness running rampant. We don’t want to see fingers pointed every time there’s a bad pull, wipe, or someone dies. Get up, dust off, and do it better next time. Simple. Help each other out. Show up to 10 and 5 mans. Help get your peers gear so we can progress even further. They will help you in turn. I promise.

We have a great group of people. I would like to see us expand and succeed. It’s going to be a group effort. Do your part here, or find somewhere else to do it.


Guild Etiquette

- Don't post DPS meters in guild required chat channels such as Guild Chat, Raid Chat, Party Chat, or class/role channels (ie ExHealers, ExTanks). If you want to discuss DPS meters, please join/craeate a channel for posting them or do it in private. If people want the meters, Red provides WWS and you are free to run the addon yourself.

- Don't post kill notes or boast about the guild in the public or realm forums. We are distinctly humble and private people.

- If you quit the guild, don't expect to be let back in. We have a recent exception to this because of extenuating circumstances, but I can assure you it will not happen again.

- It's ok to have fun on vent during easy trash. We expect people to be business oriented during the hard stuff. Please be respectful during boss fights and difficult pulls.

- This extends into personal interactions on Vent as well. If you have an issue with a player or players, (ie regarding whether or not they are buffing, dispelling, using the correct consumables, etc) please either politely and privately whisper them, or contact an officer about it.

- Loot will be handled quickly. Please link what you are upgrading as well as any pertinent information (ie, 2 pc, lowball, etc.) ASAP. Please know your upgrades before entering a zone so that you don't have to think about it too much. The more pointed the information, the better. Also please remain remotely quiet while loot can be handled so the officers can speak and so bidders may provide more information over vent, pass, etc.

How to Ask for Loot

The more loot council is informed, the better decisions we make. One thing it’s hard for us to know is your personal looting priority system. It varies so much from class to class, spec to spec, and person to person. Some of us have gear lists that we go by, religiously, that tell us what item is currently the best available for any given slot. I’ve mentioned before how much this helps both us as loot council and you as members out. We really encourage everyone to have an understanding of what items are best in slot for them, what items are major upgrades, what items are minor upgrades, and where these items drop.

Now, you may have seen a few people linking their gear lately, and following with phrases/words like “Lowball” or “Best in Slot”. This is a dream for us. We love it. We love when people know exactly what their priorities are, and it gives us a really nice understanding of how long a player will be using something before we’re replacing that item for them.

So what we’d really like to do is implement the use of more key words after you link your current worn item in raid. The ”new” (again, some people already do this and have been doing it for a while) process will go a little bit like this:

1. Link the item you are upgrading from in raid.
2. In the same /ra message, give us short but pertinent information regarding what type of upgrade this will be, if any. You should be using keywords like, but not limited to, the ones below:

"Best in Slot" - This item is something that you will not be replacing until new content is released.
"2pc”, “4pc”, etc - For Tier gear. This item grants you a desired set bonus.
"Desired” or “Major Upgrade" - You really want this item. This item is a fairly major upgrade for you, though perhaps not best in slot.
"Interested” or “Minor – Fair Upgrade" - You are slightly to fairly interested in this item. This item may not be the best upgrade for you, but still considerable enough for interest. You may also consider passing if others put their names in for it.
"Lowball" - You only want this item if it would otherwise rot/no one else wants it.
"Offspec" - Obviously

If any of you have any suggestions along these lines, please let us know. These words aren’t set in stone, but we are looking for a general feeling out of them, as well as some sense of consistency. Jailer, Volcan and I are art kids. We can adapt. The only person you might need to worry about having some sort of syntax error is Ex, and I think he can learn, too :).

Please remember that any other information you would like to give about your desires is extremely welcome. The more informed we are, the better decisions we can make. Finally, Thanks ahead of time for your cooperation with this .

Guild Ranking System

Guild Leaders - General guild administration. Handles guild issues and concerns. Runs guild raids (Jailer). Maintains and administrates guild website (Rhi). Maintains crucial role in the recruitment and application processes. Primary contacts for new applicants. Administers applicant interviews. Maintains integrity and atmosphere of the guild. Acts as part of the loot council.

Officer Council - Provides assistance with guild administration. Handles player issues and concerns. Participates in loot council. Helps in running a smooth and seamless raid. Provides feedback on new applicants and assists in application process. Provides feedback to members about performance issues.

Advisor - Raiders who have taken active roles in raids and guild administration. Responsibilities include: General assistance to guild leaders in raids and otherwise. Providing feedback on guild and player issues and offering advice on correcting these issues. Mentoring raiders and giving feedback on recruits. May be consulted for advice on loot distribution. These players are very active in the guild forums, checking them at least every other day.

Raider - Members who meet the attendance requirements on a weekly basis. These players post absences when they are unable to attend a raid. They also show up to raids consistently with pots and consumables. They are respectful on Vent during raids and help other guild mates when they can. They are kind and respectful of fellow guild mates and help to foster the atmosphere that makes Explicit unique. These players know to bring any issues they have to guild leadership. Raiders check the forums at least every other day.

Casual Raider - These members do not meet attendance requirements for our weekly raiding schedule, but may raid if available. They take a low priority on loot decisions. These players attend raids with pots and consumables. They are also respectful on vent during raid times and assist other guild members when they can. These members also help to foster Explicit's unique environment, and will bring any concerns they have to the leadership of the guild. Casual raiders check the forums at least every other day.

Recruit - Raiders are new additions to the Explicit community. "Recruit" is a probationary status where the player will be under close review by all other members. Recruits will be reviewed on both skill level and whether or not they are a good "fit" on a social basis. Recruits take a very low priority on loot decisions. There is no preset time frame for the recruit status, and recruits will be either removed or promoted based on officer discretion. Recruits will be under close scrutiny to meet Explicit's raiding requirements regarding attendance, preparedness, and respect in the community. Recruits check the forums at least every other day.

Alts / Friends - These are the Non-raiders of the guild who are friends with or alts of raiders. If these players are in a raid they take no priority on loot.

Enemy - This is the lowest rank in the guild held for those who piss the officers off. This spot is also reserved for those that do not post their absences on the Guild forums regularly.
